KBR’s Government Solutions - US,  Defense Systems Engineering Business Unit is seeking an Engineering Intern enrolled in the Democratizing Research and Experiential Education for Microelectronics (DREEM) Program at the College of Southern Maryland and/or currently taking related Microelectronics Engineering courses at the University of Maryland’s MATRIX Lab.  This internship will serve as a member of our team working in our Naval Solutions Division’s Development and Integration Program in Lexington Park, MD.  The candidate will be directly responsible for maintaining a positive and productive working relationship with KBR engineering and technical staff, our DOD customers, and/or other external contractor entities as applicable.​

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist experienced technical professionals in various stages of engineering research, development, integration, test, and evaluation - from design, simulation, fabrication, prototyping, testing, automating, and more.Support KBR’s Naval Solutions Division in a full-time capacity at 40 hours/week during the standard college breaksDevelop and deliver a final presentation of your work as a capstone of your internship.  Additional tasks as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen

Education: Must be a student with the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) participating in the Democratizing Research and Experiential Education for Microelectronics (DREEM) Program AND/OR currently taking related Microelectronics Engineering courses at the University of Maryland’s MATRIX Lab.

Clearance: Eligible to Obtain a DOD Clearance

Experience: Must have or be participating in the DREEM research program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelExperience with Engineering Design Software (SolidWorks, AutoCad, Creo, Matlab, etc.)Experience with 3D printing of parts and assemblies using common printers and polymer materialsExperience with Circuit Design and Simulation Software (KiCad, Altium, NI Mulitsim, SPICE, etc.)Experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout, fabrication, assembly, soldering, and testing.

Compensation: $20/HR. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
