Role Summary Internship Term: Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027. In this role, you will join the Special Projects team, with a primary focus on body structures and mechanical engineering for custom vehicle modifications. Responsibilities include designing new parts, reworking existing components, and creating innovative structural solutions for specialty builds. Projects may include upfit builds and other unique structural challenges that push the boundaries of design. Responsibilities Design and Engineering: Collaborate on structural-focused mechanical engineering projects for upfit builds and specialty vehicle modifications, including rework plans for existing builds to meet new specifications. CAD and Analysis: Use CAD for part design and contribute to the full mechanical design process, from conceptualization to rework. Perform CAE/analysis to ensure the integrity and durability of designs. Project Management: Take ownership of design tasks, contributing innovative solutions to the special projects team, with a focus on body structures for customized vehicle builds. Hands-on Experience: Apply knowledge from extracurricular projects (e.g., Formula SAE or project cars) and work independently with guidance from senior engineers on Rivian’s structures team. Qualifications Must be currently pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or similar fields CAD Proficiency: Strong experience with CAD software and a demonstrated ability to work independently in design and basic structural analysis. Previous Internship Experience: Prior experience as an intern or in a hands-on engineering role, with a preference for candidates who have participated in extracurricular projects like Formula SAE or have personal project car experience. Analytical Exposure: Familiarity with CAE or analysis software for structural testing and optimization. High motivation and willingness to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment. 40 hours/week, full-time. #LI-[SAI7] Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law. Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
