Engineering Intern - Quality Engineering

Role Summary Internship Term: Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027. Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements. This role involves participating in APQP, assisting with equipment and process capability analysis, and developing validation and inspection plans. The intern will gain hands-on experience in quality tool training, problem-solving, and continuous improvement projects. They will work closely with the quality team to monitor and analyze quality performance data, support internal issue resolution, and contribute to process improvement based on warranty and dealer input. Responsibilities APQP Participation: Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) within assigned areas to ensure quality in the design and production process. Capability Analysis: Support the manufacturing team with equipment and process capability analysis. Validation and Inspection Plans: Develop and implement product and process validation and inspection plans. Quality Tool Training: Deliver training on quality tools and methods. Issue Resolution: Own 8D and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for internal quality issues, using metrology equipment for problem-solving. Quality Improvement: Analyze and improve quality performance; lead or participate in quality-related continuous improvement projects. Data Monitoring and Reporting: Track and report quality performance data for KPI boards. Documentation and Analysis: Conduct 8D, PFMEA, and Control Plan reviews/updates, and utilize warranty and dealer data to drive improvements. Quality Culture: Support efforts to develop, maintain, and improve the quality culture within the assigned area. Qualifications Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Quality and Problem-Solving: Experience with APQP, 8D problem-solving methods, and continuous improvement (Kaizen); Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in metrology equipment, statistical process control, and CAD software (Catia preferred). Data Analysis: Skilled in data analytics software such as Excel, Tableau, or Looker; experience with Minitab or similar statistical software. Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills. Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills for effective collaboration across teams. 40 hours/week #LI-[SAI7] Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.
