Engineering Internship
About the role.
The Engineering Internship offers an opportunity to join the McCain engineering team and gain hands-on experience in manufacturing, engineering and project management during the summer of 2025 (May through August).
The engineering intern will support multiple factories and contribute to the team’s goals and objectives. The Intern is expected to gain a focused understanding of project development, project management, and engineering processes. You will learn about food manufacturing operations, strategic projects and initiatives, internal and external communications, teamwork, work with a purpose, and careers with McCain!
This position will be located at the Florenceville corporate office in Florenceville, New Brunswick. The normal schedule is eight hours per day, five days per week; Candidates should have a strong interest in engineering and/or project management.
Accountabilities:
Review the design of equipment and systems using corporate standardsInterface with engineers to learn about project scope requirements and incorporate corporate standardsEvaluate new process technologies to improve existing systems and resolve process and safety problemsWork with finance, production, food safety and safety to develop justifications for capital projects and prepare the Requests for Expenditure Authorization (REAs) in a timely and accurate fashionAcquire and negotiate project contractor bids in conjunction with procurementSupport the preparation of project specifications and/or tender documentsManage the release of design input to suppliers (contractors, component suppliers, etc.)Perform supplier site visits to ensure compatibility of equipment designs with current plant configurationsProduce site visit reports, contractor job meeting minutes, project material listings, purchase orders, installation schedules, and preparation of any other documentation relating to installation of systemsAssist in the development of new installation techniques and standards
Qualifications:
Pursuing your bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related functionMust have strong Microsoft Excel proficiency and exceptional analytical skills and be able to work with complex dataFollow company policy for job safetyMust be able to lift 35lbs and stand on your feet for your shiftMust be at least 18 years of age
Skills:
Interest in equipment design and project managementSystematic approach to problem-solvingAdvanced mathematical skills Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization.

The intern will be part of the engineering team at McCain’s corporate office, working directly with project engineers and project managers in the region and at the factories. Hybrid
Compensation Package: $23.00 - $26.00 CAD hourly
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position when posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
