Engineering Manager, Data Mobility Ingestion
About the Team

The Data Mobility Ingestion team at DoorDash plays a foundational role in powering real-time analytics, personalization, and operational intelligence across the company. We build and operate two critical platforms that move data at massive scale to the lakehouse:

Realtime Streaming Platform: Moves analytical events from DoorDash’s mobile and web clients in real time, processing over  50TB/day using a fully in-house managed Kafka and Flink ecosystem.

Near Realtime Transactional Platform: Ingests change data from online transactional databases to the lakehouse using Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming, moving over 100TB/day.

With international expansion and verticalized business growth on the horizon, the team is rearchitecting the ingestion stack to meet the scale and agility required for the next decade. We're also investing in developer experience, self-healing capabilities, cost-efficient architectures, and tiered platform offerings to make high-quality data ingestion seamless for all internal teams.

About the Role

As the Engineering Manager for the Ingestion team, you’ll lead the development of DoorDash’s next-generation data ingestion platform — one that unifies real-time and near-realtime data movement under a common compute foundation.

Your team will play a critical role in supporting cutting-edge use cases such as real-time personalization, while driving standardization, automation, and deep integration with the broader data platform ecosystem. You’ll influence the long-term technical direction and partner with other platform and business teams to ensure the ingestion stack evolves in lockstep with DoorDash’s global expansion and verticalized product strategy.

This is a highly strategic role, blending platform engineering with business context. You'll bring both technical depth and product vision to define the roadmap, ensure platform excellence, and empower a growing team of talented engineers to deliver at scale.

Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in building and nurturing a top-performing team, driving innovation and success in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… Define and drive the roadmap for DoorDash’s next-generation ingestion platform, consolidating real-time and batch pipelines under a unified, SLA-driven architecture Build a tiered platform that balances performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency, enabling teams to scale data use cases from experimentation to production Lead replatforming efforts to meet the demands of global scale, new business verticals, and real-time personalization needs Shape the ingestion platform’s role within the broader data ecosystem, ensuring deep integration with quality, governance, lakehouse, and ML tooling Partner with customers across product, engineering, ML, and analytics to deeply understand use cases and translate them into scalable platform capabilities Foster a strong engineering culture grounded in technical excellence, ownership, and continuous learning Mentor and grow a team of high-performing engineers, while contributing to recruiting and building a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative environment We’re excited about you because you have… B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent 7+ years of industry experience 2+ years of experience in an engineering management role Prior experience in Systems Engineering - you've built  meaningful big data processing systems at scale, and experience with big data compute engines such as Apache Spark and Apache Flink  Familiarity with Datalake solutions such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg Familiarity with a cloud based environment such as AWS Experience with these specific technologies is not required but helpful Building systems directly powering online applications Exposure to various databases such as CockroachDB, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL
