We're looking for a technical, hands-on, and mission-focused Engineering Manager to lead the Financial Platform team. You’ll be responsible for business-critical revenue accounting, tax, and payout integrations, along with supporting new products such as a virtual currency. You will lead a full-stack team of driven engineers to ensure Discord’s revenue operations are transparent, scalable, and accurate, and accelerate product development teams by abstracting hard financial engineering problems. What You'll Be Doing
Build and lead an exceptional team of engaged engineers by coaching, hiring, and fostering a culture of ownership and impact. Drive the technical vision and roadmap for Financial Platform by collaborating with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Accounting, Legal, and Tax. Collaborate with the team to design solutions that support existing revenue lines at scale and enable rapid growth of new products. Use your technical and domain expertise to ensure your team delivers extraordinary results at the high technical level we set. Make sound, first-principle decisions around resourcing with clear rationale to partners and team members. Work with other Engineering leaders to continuously improve the Engineering organization and uphold our workplace philosophy.What you should have
You have 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer. You have 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and have successfully managed a team of 5+ Software Engineers. You have strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You have a proven track record leading platform teams and you understand the tradeoffs necessary to enable client teams while simultaneously improving your own domain. You are a first principles thinker who can work with others to come up with pragmatic solutions. You are motivated to help your team members succeed and have experience growing engineers. You are passionate about coaching and leading other engineers, but secretly love to roll up your sleeves and getting elbow deep in code when the opportunities arise.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $223,000 - $245,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
