National Grid is hiring a Engineer Manager, Power Plants in Wading River, NY.

Job Purpose

Manage day-to-day and longer-range activities of the station’s operations, controls, and maintenance functions to ensure efficient, reliable, safe, and compliant operation of the generating station. The manager is accountable for Operations, Controls, and the Maintenance of Wading River and East End Gas Turbine sites.

Key Accountabilities

•    Manage operations and control activities in order to meet generation needs and ensure safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability
•    Plan and manage plant maintenance activities, including equipment repair and replacement, in order to achieve long-term efficiency and reliability of the station
•    Plan and implement small outages and coordinate the work of Maintenance Service, contractors and plant staff in relation to outages to order to ensure successful and timely and completion of improvement and maintenance projects
•    Prepare and control the station’s expense and capital budget in order to achieve efficient operation of the station and meet economic objectives 
•    Manage plant activities and processes in order to ensure successful execution of compliance programs, policies, and reporting related to operations, maintenance and controls 
•    Provide technical support to functions as needed in order to achieve station operating objectives
•    Recruit, motivate and develop staff within operations, control and maintenance functions in order to maximize productivity and effectiveness and promote positive teamwork
•    Administer , interpret, and implement policies and procedures to ensure positive employee relations and compliance with company-union contracts

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical / electrical or marine preferred)
•    Strong background in industrial management desired
•    Knowledge and working understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, computer, electrical circuits, and metallurgy
•    In-depth technical knowledge of the maintenance and operation of power plant systems, equipment, and work methods achieved through 7 or more years in the operation and maintenance of electric generating facilities
•    Familiarity with NY ISO rules and New York energy market

Salary

$172,000- $156,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
