Engineering Manager, VAVE

Position Summary:

Milacron is looking for an Engineering Manager, VAVE to join our team in Batavia, OH. As the Engineering Manager, VAVE, you will be responsible for managing a team of engineers while driving standardization to reduce overall cost of manufacture, reduce time to design, improve serviceability, enhance the customer experience, and increase consistency of our products for current and new products. You will collaborate with all manufacturing locations and other functional areas to optimize their effectiveness in meeting performance metrics. This individual should specialize in designing and developing procedures and strategies to enhance the value of products in a global organization and through the team deliver solutions.

Work You’ll Do:

Global Standardization: Identifies or defines the best practices of all functional areas within Engineering; documents, trains, deploys, and maintains these practices. Identifies or defines design building blocks or re-use elements with proven value and performance and promotes the deployment and sustainment of these elements

Global Value Analysis: works with all engineering groups and other cross functional teams to drive and deliver value to customers through features and cost reduction. Identify the lowest cost way and ensuring the highest worth to accomplish the functions of a product, process or service

Value Engineering: target costing and effective cost management, cost avoidance or cost reduction before and after production release

Provide daily direction to track and assign priories globally

Continuously review and forecast team capacity/demand and escalate any resource issues in a timely manner

Ensure customer requirements are clearly understood, drive closure on open requirements, and verify requirements are satisfied

Oversee estimating effort and track progress on VAVE projects

Coordinate with other Engineering functions such as Electrical, Mechanical/Hydraulic, and Injection to ensure latest cost and quality improvements are implemented in a robust manner

Partner with Operations/Manufacturing to ensure quality, on-time releases

Provide Management with regular feedback on performance of technical issues, project issues, processes/tools, and team member performance

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

6+ years of relevant manufacturing experience

Experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams

Experience in global VAVE design project execution

Experience with 3D CAD, PLM, and ERP software

Relevant experience with mechanical analysis and tolerance/fit analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

General knowledge of all forms of plastic processing machinery and design

Experience with CREO, Windchill, and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne highly preferred
