Role Summary As the Engineering Manager for Visual & Video Feature Engineering , you will lead a talented engineering team focused on delivering cutting-edge visual, video, and augmented reality features, leveraging advanced in-house AI technologies. This role will serve as a champion of visual and video innovations , advocating for software-defined vehicle (SDV) applications and rallying stakeholders to execute impactful, cross-functional engineering projects. You will oversee the design, development, and deployment of computer vision and AI-powered features for cameras, video, and visual systems, ensuring a seamless experience for Rivian’s customers. The ideal candidate has an advanced degree in engineering, a passion for visual technologies, and extensive experience leading engineering teams to successfully launch vision-focused products at scale. Responsibilities Lead the development of vision, video, and augmented reality features for SDVs, using AI core technologies developed in-house. Advocate for visual and video-centric SDV features, working closely with product management, design, and cross-functional engineering teams. Oversee end-to-end project execution, from concept development to production launch, ensuring quality, scalability, and timely delivery. Drive architectural decisions and design trade-offs for scalable, high-performance software solutions. Stay abreast of industry advancements in computer vision, augmented reality, and AI, integrating them into product roadmap. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence within your team and across the organization. Qualifications MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; PHD in engineering preferred. At least 7 years of engineering management experience , with a proven track record of delivering cutting-edge computer vision or AI technologies to market. Expertise in building and deploying vision-focused applications (e.g., camera systems, AR/VR, video processing) at scale. Deep understanding of computer vision pipelines, image processing, and AI model integration. Familiarity with frameworks such as OpenGL, OpenCV, and media APIs like Camera2 and MediaCodec. Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java or Python; experience with AI/ML toolkits is a plus. Strong skills in cross-functional leadership, stakeholder management, and project advocacy. Experience in building high-performing engineering teams and fostering innovation. Experience in augmented reality and interactive visual technologies. Passion for creating advanced technologies that redefine mobility and customer experiences. Familiarity with modern camera hardware and software design for embedded systems. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: 146,000 - 184,000 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
