ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Engineering Manager oversees and directs all activities related to product engineering and ensures that manufacturing processes will meet end customer requirements.  Directs and coordinates development/qualification projects leading to new products and/or improved processes.  Provides technical authority during engineering reviews and supports sustaining/manufacturing engineering. 

Manages engineering staff and resources to support operations.Directs staff and activities involved in developing/qualifying new products and/or optimal production processes (scope includes design, testing, machinery, tooling, equipment, and layout)Writes work instructions, conducts risk assessments and reliability studies.Responsible for daily MRB disposition and costing.Drive process control and variance reduction activities through continuous improvement pipelines.Drive cost reduction activities that will create favorable manufacturing variances.Develop, implement, and communicate a system to authorize, provide and control technical information and instructions.Provides direction to technical support as required for critical process and product issues.Determine capital equipment needs & development of the budget process for equipment, training, software, and equipment installation projects.Responsible for undertaking the necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality non-compliance monitoring and audit programs.Provide ongoing developmental feedback to team members, as well as formal annual performance reviews.Communicate with operations and quality, as well as customers to address technical questions and issues.Foster a “Safety 24/7” culture; driving safety and environmental initiatives to ensure zero safety related incidents annually.Performs other related duties. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

BS, Degree in Engineering (preferably in mechanical engineering).4+ years Manufacturing experience (aerospace, investment castings or machining backgrounds preferred).Supervisory experience leading people.Performance management skills. Analytical skillsPersonal accountabilityStrong organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of organization.Advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.Aerospace Quality Systems preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Must be capable of working effectively with minimal direction and supervision. Process improvement experience is desirable (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing). Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational and verbal & written communication skills. Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement. Attention to detail and an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements. Work requires verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Strong computer skills.
