Engineering Manager
Engineering manager role in Barclays’ Glasgow office who will lead a team of analysts and developers in the expansion of the Wholesale Client Onboarding & KYC Operations case management and workflow solution used by circa 2k users globally.  Focusing initially on growing the team’s presence and capability in the Glasgow office, with opportunities to expand the role to other offices.Working closely with Operations Service leads and Product Management teams to gather requirements and prioritise features, oversee the planning, execution and delivery of low code and core Java technology projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.Leveraging Barclays and industry standard solutions to gather metrics and performance indicators that assess the effectiveness of system enhancements and architectural changes, identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements to optimise the delivery pipeline, performance, scalability, and user experience.Working with the engineering leadership team and senior technical architects to provide input to architectural decisions, technology selection, and best practices that will enable delivery of a capability roadmap in conjunction with other teams across Financial Crime Operations.Working in an evolving collaborative agile environment with a global pod structure to deliver incremental change at a fast pace; maintaining a product-centric mindset and ensuring satisfaction with technology solutions in a closely regulated environment.

Purpose of the role

To verify the accuracy, reliability, and soundness of the bank's analytical models by independently validating and assuring the quality of models. 

Accountabilities

Development and implementation of validation plans for new and existing models.Preparation of model documentation that clearly explains the model's methodology, assumptions, limitations, and risks.Development and implementation of ongoing monitoring frameworks to ensure continued model accuracy and effectiveness, ensuring appropriate controls and governance in place.Analysis and assessment of the model's accuracy, performance, and compliance with regulatory requirements.Performing back testing and stress testing to assess model robustness under different conditions.

Director Expectations

Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
