In addition to serving a healthy base of customers with our core managed kubernetes and managed openstack product offerings, we have recently launched a new product, EMP, that maximizes EKS utilization and reduces costs. We are looking for an engineering manager to own, improve, and deliver Platform9’s leading product(s). 

Responsibilities

Work with product managers and engineering leads to execute the product roadmap.Hire, mentor and guide engineers on the team on technical tasks and career developmentWork with the customer support team to help manage customer escalationsHave an unwavering commitment to quality deliverablesProvide technical support to solutions team for pre-sales activities

Ideal Characteristics/Profile

Bachelors or Masters degrees in computer science or a related discipline Extensive related work experience is also acceptable10 years experience as a hands-on engineer or leader in large-scale distributed systems3 years experience in a lead/management role for an infrastructure engineering teamBuilt and led strong engineering teams in the distributed systems spaceMentor and motivate team members, along with aiding their growth and advancementExposure to and understanding of open-source projectsWhile not limited to specific technologies, some exposure to public / private cloud-based development with the big 3 clouds, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and languages like Node.js, Python, and Golang is desirableTechnically proficient enough to drive tradeoff evaluations and execution decisions. Dives deep and understands tradeoffs in technology and strategy decisionsCan manage geographically distributed teams, even with small numbers of individual contributors in different locationsStrong organizational skills: ability to manage schedule, people and cost / budgetCulture fit: identifies with our core valuesBar raiser - Amplifies the overall ability and productivity of the team.

Exposure to application development in the cloud-native landscape is a bonusEntrepreneurial bent - ability to balance growth with developmentEvangelism: interest and ability to be the spokesperson for Platform9 externallyFamiliarity with Kubernetes and the associated ecosystemExposure to serverless and SaaS technologies, particularly within the Kubernetes ecosystem.
