Introduction
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and oversee product engineering of Bulk Material Handling (BMH) equipment within the Services Business Area in Metso’s upcoming Pittsburgh office.
You will develop and execute engineering strategies, drive product innovation, and ensure the successful delivery of projects within our BMH division. Our diverse product portfolio includes apron feeders, belt feeders, rotary car dumpers, conveyor belts, bucketwheel stacker reclaimers, and more. With a strong focus on aftermarket capabilities, new product development, and custom solutions, we are dedicated to meeting the evolving demands of the mining sector.

You will join a team of industry experts passionate about delivering high-performance solutions for the global mining sector. Our team is dedicated to driving innovation and setting industry standards for bulk material handling equipment. We are currently enhancing our aftermarket capabilities, supporting Engineer-to-Order projects, and working on new product developments to meet evolving customer needs.
We work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as global engineering teams, the field service team, and our valued customers. Our team culture is all about collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing. The members of our team are located across various global regions.

What you’ll do
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute engineering strategies to align with business goals, focusing on innovation, quality, and operational efficiency. Drive research and development initiatives to advance technologies and maintain a competitive edge in the market.Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a global engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture. Ensure knowledge sharing and the application of best practices across all engineering functions.Project Oversight:
Supervise engineering projects, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to budgets, and compliance with quality standards. Oversee modifications, upgrades, and repairs of existing equipment to enhance performance and extend operational life.Technical Authority:
Provide expert guidance on complex engineering challenges within the BMH product portfolio. Ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of all technical documentation in compliance with industry standards.Continuous Improvement:
Implement initiatives to improve processes, innovation, and overall team performance. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with customer needs and organizational objectives.
Who you are
To succeed in this role, you’ll probably have
15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on bulk material handling equipment in the mining industry. Proven track record in leadership roles, managing engineering teams in a global environment. Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor) and a deep understanding of mechanical systems, material selection, and power transmission. Comprehensive knowledge of BMH equipment, including apron feeders, belt feeders, rotary car dumpers, and bucketwheel stacker reclaimers. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively address engineering challenges. Visionary leader with the ability to inspire teams and drive ambitious goals. Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving equipment breakdowns under time-sensitive conditions.
