We are expanding a Release and QA team within Tinder’s Foundations pillar to continue to deliver a best-in-class product that safeguards our members’ experience and supports Tinder’s missions to help people meet strangers in a fun way in real life on a global scale. As an Engineering Manager II on the Release and QA team, you will partner directly with Product and Engineering leadership to maintain and improve Tinder's product release and quality.
Where you’ll work: This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration three days per week. This position is located in Los Angeles, or San Francisco. In this role, you will:Lead a hybrid team of engineers and external contractors (both full time and network agency) to create and maintain the process that best serves the quality across all Tinder engineering and productIdentify potential team leaders - both from a technical and people leadership perspective.Collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, design, and business development to deliver product features on time and quality.Understand the gaps in the QA and release process and establish a long-term team roadmap (particularly an engineering roadmap) for addressing the identified gaps.Co-own the top-of-funnel metrics with the marketing and business development teams and identify the opportunity for in-app events, custom product pages, and product page optimization.Establish engineering org-wide release and test quality transparency via a comprehensive reporting solution.Work closely with the platform team (dev experience) to improve the quality of mobile regression testing.Manage the app store meta-data and oversee the app submission process (including localization, branch cut, pre-submission testing, app regression testing, etc.)Address any mobile app release rejections while coordinating with key partners promptly.Drive the critical conversations between Apple, Google, Tinder business development, and Match group program management to smoothen the release process.Drive strategic plans and tactical execution that align with business goals.Implement and scale out standard processes on the teams while keeping a higher level of consistency by identifying/gathering any issues/bugs pre-release/QA. Lead and mentor team members to reach their full potential.You’ll need:3+ years of technical leadership experience5+ years of QA automation, release management or engineering experienceStrong ownership and accountability to lead all aspects of the release process and qualityMaintain and improve team project management rituals, either Scrum or Kanban.Hands-on experience in delivering and maintaining the quality of large-scale, end-to-end (consumer-facing) apps/systems.Passion for taking initiative and driving high-leverage solutions in a rapidly changing environmentWisdom on technical trade-offs, strong sense of ownership, and executionStrong written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to advocate and present to non-technical audiences, including leadership, in an easily digestible manner.Desire and ability to grow, encourage, and empower the team to go above and beyond.Experience working autonomously with multiple teams across backend, iOS, Android, Web platforms, data, product, analytics, design, business development, and external vendors.Nice to have: Experience in mobile app release management.Experience in AWS stack – especially with mobile emphasis.Experience in various testing SaaS solutions such as Qase, Testrails, and Applitools.Have experience with setting up and leading one of the listed CI systems such as Jenkins, BuildKite, CIrcleCi, Bitrise.Experience in accessibility and localization testing.Have enterprise experience working with native test automation solutions such as XCUITest, Espresso, and Cypress.$200,000 - $240,000 a yearFactors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Los Angeles, CA.
