Data Connects Us. **About the Role:** We seek an engineering leader to lead a high-performing and dynamic team responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling observability solutions for our company's products. The team is dedicated to empowering our customers and internal engineering through these tools and fostering a strong user experience. As Confluent grows its product portfolio and engineering organization, these observability solutions become increasingly vital in building trust and reliability to drive product adoption with customers and enable our engineers to run world-class services. You will guide the team in projects that bring new capabilities to our internal observability tools and improve customer-facing observability features, effectively prioritizing tasks to align with company goals. Your leadership will foster a collaborative environment, drive innovation, and maintain high development and management standards **What You Will Do:** + Lead the strategic vision and execution of essential observability interfaces, ensuring the delivery of superior APIs and interfaces for Confluent products that meet global standards. + Collaborate with product management, design, and other engineering teams to define product roadmap and technical strategy. + Deliver high impact to the business by driving product adoption and ensuring our observability interfaces are aligned with user needs and preferences. + Build and maintain a robust observability framework for internal users to effectively monitor and diagnose issues with the Confluent services they operate. + Foster a strong community around our observability tools, actively engaging with users to prioritize feature requests, bug fixes, and contributions. + Work with engineering teams and products on critical aspects of product definition, architectural design, and delivery. + Influence the overall domain health and operational hygiene for the Observability Platform. + Champion engineering excellence through process improvement and technical leadership. + Measure and analyze team and product performance to identify opportunities for improvement. **What You Will Bring:** + 10+ years of experience in software development and 2+ years in management. + Experience in building and designing resilient systems at scale using hyperscale CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP), with a proven track record of “seeing around corners” to reduce complexity and create critical enduring technical foundations. + Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques. + Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, motivate engineers, coach/mentor, and manage performance. + An excellent track record of timely shipping features, a sense of urgency, an aggressive mindset toward achieving results, and excellent prioritization skills. + Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience **What Gives You an Edge:** + Proven track record in contributing to or maintaining observability solutions. + Demonstrated ability to build and improve platform services used by a large engineering organization. **Come As You Are** At Confluent, equality is a core tenet of our culture.
