Engineering People Manager

We're looking for a motivated and driven Engineering People Manager for our US-based Software Engineering teams. Our distributed Tech teams take care of highly customized software tools for our Mobility Operations, Finance and HR departments. The Engineering Manager plays a critical role as we redefine our toolset and constantly optimize for operational excellence and automation.  

Your Tasks – Paint the world green

Managing Engineering Teams:  

You lead, shape and grow 2-3 software engineering team consisting of 3-6 team members.   You are mostly hands-off, but coaching your team to take conscious decisions, seize opportunities and reduce risks.  Together with our senior engineering leaders you strive for technical excellence.  Together with our Product Owners you define your team’s vision and mission statement.  

Team Setup:   

You are accountable for setting-up teams for success.   You shape the structure around teams and individuals.   You attract, develop and retain engineering talent with a great cultural fit to make our teams more successful.   You ensure the teams have all required resources to work efficiently towards their goals.    

Leadership:   

You are a servant leader in an agile environment with distributed power and leadership.   You take accountability for the team by enabling and empowering all team members.   You own the disciplinary power and serve as an escalation point for your team members.    You are hands-on removing all impediments in the organization to make our teams successful.  You live a transparent feedback culture and are eager to lead by example.  

People growth:  

You create an environment which engages and challenges your team members and exposes them to new opportunities.   You enable your team members to grow and foster their skills and career.   You identify improvement areas in their functional, non-functional or soft skills by supporting them in their professional development.    Your Profile – Ready to hop on board

Engineering Management  

You have 3+ years of experience in managing technical teams and individuals.   You have software engineering or technical product management background that enables you to drive technical decisions with the team and engage with engineers at all levels of seniority.  You have experience working with one or more general purpose programming languages including, but not limited to, Java  

People Management  

You have the desire to grow and learn as a manager.  You enjoy growing and developing others.  You find satisfaction in facilitating the success of teams and individuals rather than through personal technical proficiency.  You are a team player with experience at acting independently.  Working proficiency in English is mandatory, Spanish is a plus.   Our Perks – More than just a job
