OUR ROLE:The Engineering Portfolio Team Lead will support the engineering resource planning schedule creation, maintenance and update as well as budget controls for new and ongoing projects which involve the design, development, and manufacture of equipment for use in Nuclear facilities.
The Engineering Portfolio Lead will report to the Systems Engineering Manager, supporting the engineering resource planning schedule creation, maintenance and update for new and ongoing projects which involves the design, development, and manufacture of equipment for use in nuclear facilities. This will include process improvements to improve project execution and scheduling. This also includes the leadership and oversight of the unionized Registry (document control) team, who will report directly into this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL
Develop and implement consistent methodologies for the following: Standardization of schedule creation, WBS, activity ID, nomenclature, update processes, work planning accuracies, etc. Schedule update methodology (gathering inputs from the team, inputting into P6 and updating). Monitoring of SPI across all engineering projects. Collaborate with department team members to continuously improve our scheduling practices and resolve any technical snags: Weekly meetings with Engineering Team Leads across all disciplines. Maintain the resource dictionary within P6 including vacation schedules. Publish resource information to company management in an effort to assist with resource planning decisions Facilitate the preparation of proper plans and schedules (level 3) with individualcontributors. Take ownership of the cost/schedule commitments of your team Provide leadership and direction of Registry activities. Measure and drive job scope control with individuals to improve overall performance. Actively participate with FM in resource planning, recruitment, interviewing and onboarding. Attend weekly leadership meetings with FM and TLs, conduct bi-weekly team meetings, approve teams weekly timecards Lead unionized registry staff (document control). Work with unionized staff in line with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Plan and monitor resources and activities in order to accomplish operational objectives including completion of projects, tasks, proposals, estimates (e.g., weekly priorities meeting, attendance and participation at production meetings, operations meetings and monthly review & estimate meetings).
INQUIRY TO ORDER PHASE
During the ITO phase, work with the team to develop a suitable schedule (Level 1, 2 or 3 as applicable). Be accountable throughout the ITO phase to refine the schedule if required, and maintain data integrity including, but not limited to, forecast probability, start date, total estimated hours, etc.
ORDER TO REMITTANCE PHASE
Lead the development of fully resourced schedules for all assigned projects/programs (working with the applicable Project Manager and Team Leaders). As applicable, monitor project health and performance indicators using earned value methodologies including CPI and SPI. Update all schedules on a biweekly frequency or according to the needs of each job. Assist Project Managers in identifying schedule risks, critical path monitoring, float management and schedule recovery. Ensure consistency of data between ERP system and P6 (budgeted, actual and remaining hours). Upon job closure, perform the schedule archive process. Work to drive tangible change across engineering with the ultimate goal to improve schedule accuracy, consistent work planning practices and minimal unassigned work for 4 to 8 week outlook Lead, execute and implement positive change through process improvements to ultimately improve project execution Drive schedule accountability across engineering team leads and project managers in initial planning and throughout project change management. Track and monitor schedule adherence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Bachelors in a relevant field, or a commiserate level of applicable working experience. Advanced skills in Primavera (P6), with a minimum of 2 years of experience with the software. Advanced data analysis skills. Strong time management; and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience. Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to work in a team. Most importantly.... creative and innovative thinkers!
Desired Characteristics:
Demonstrated ability to plan / schedule / manage mid to large-scale projects. Experience in one or more of the following areas: Engineering design, team leadership, product design leadership, manufacturing team leadership, commercial operations, project coordination and / or project planning. Experience leading small sized groups, preferably in a unionized environment. Experience in the nuclear industry is considered an asset but not required.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $89,000 and $139,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
