Job Summary:
This position is responsible for designing and developing hydraulic system architectures for Resource Industries products and machines, as well as acting as the conduit between the hydraulic component teams and the machine product team(s). The hydraulic system engineer will be responsible for component (valve, cylinder, pump, motor, etc.) selection to meet system requirements, and validation through simulation and/or testing. The role re‐ quires an understanding of the machine application and the ability to effectively translate to system and component requirements. The hydraulic system engineer will leverage available global expertise to execute complex projects within demanding timelines and budget expectations. Communication across other system teams including cooling, drivetrain, installation and performance & controls is required to develop an optimized hydraulic system.
In addition to new product development, this role will also support quality improvement projects for the existing machine fleet and any identified factory improvements. Opportunities to work on aftermarket growth and cost reduction projects are also expected. The system engineer will keep abreast of the latest technology advancements and will identify hydraulic solutions that provide a competitive advantage for Caterpillar machines.

• Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.
• Coordinating resources across the businesses with sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain and manufacturing.
• Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
• Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering, or Materials Science curriculumWhat Skills You Will Have:

• Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.
Product Design and Development:
• Develops organizational standards and processes in order to maximize complex product services' efficiency and effectiveness.
• Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.
• Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of products or services.
• Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.
• Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.
• Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed products or services.

The location for this position is Decatur, IL.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
This position will require less than 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
