Provide leadership on defining, developing, and maintaining IT structures and processes to manage LP’s digital assets relating to the execution of Capital Projects. The position will be responsible for managing internal and external engineering resources to standardize processes, and lead efforts that require IT solutions and security interfaces with LPs IT department. These efforts are intended to drive quality improvements and consistency in the development and handover of LP’s digital engineering assets.
In this position you will have the opportunity to: Develop and maintain engineering department standards relating to the technology required to get projects completed. These standards are to include but not be limited to: 3D Modeling Standards, Point Cloud Standards, 2D Drawing Standards, SharePoint Document Control Standards. Coordinate IT protocols and standard development with LP’s IT department to ensure security compliance. Manage the engineering departments software licensing requirements, provide 1st level support & training to LP engineers on engineering software packages & documentation protocol processes. Provide support and training to external resources that work with LP to ensure LP protocols are executed. Work with Sr Project Engineers and REMs to identify projects completed to gather and properly archive LP’s modeling and point cloud assets. Lead external engineering, or complete personally an annual update of 2D GA facility drawings based on 3D modeling completed on Capital Projects the prior calendar year. Support LP engineering resources by coordinating the solicitation of survey, utility locate, and point cloud services. Provide 1st level support & training to LP engineers on engineering software packages & documentation protocol processes Provide LP engineering with annual updates & training on software package developments, new tools available, and protocol changes associated with software/IT system updates. Support conceptual design support for engineering activities associated with the strategic projects. Partner with external design groups as necessary to guide the successful implementation of LP’s design, Modeling, Scanning, and drafting standards. Lead collection and data gathering efforts required to conduct engineering evaluations, scope of work development, preliminary or detailed design specifications and coordination of installation or construction efforts related to strategic projects. Assume responsibility for personal safety and for the safety performance of all personnel, projects and programs managed. Work closely with other Corporate Functions including Supply Management, Audit, Financial Services, Environmental Services and Information Technology to assure conformance with corporate policy Conduct special projects/studies, as opportunities arise, relating to technology and capital effectiveness Perform other duties as necessary What do I need to be successful?Experience:
4 - 6 years experience as a practicing professional in one or more of the following fields; engineering, capital project management. Demonstrated experience managing staff. Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.Skills, knowledge, abilities:
Thorough understanding of engineering software such as AutoCad, Revit, Inventor, ReCap, Navisworks, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project. Knowledge of building products industry, construction industry, equipment, and processes. The ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to a variety of manufacturing problems The ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. The ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs. The ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams. The ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility. The ability to communicate effectively. A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning The ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice. Education BS in Engineering, Applied Science, or related field Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification desirable**(BS equivalency = 7-10 years in a Design Engineering role supporting capital project implementation.)
Work Environment This position works in both an office environment and in a manufacturing environment. Light to moderate to travel requiring a flexible schedule is required.
