Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Engineering Specialist.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $108749.97 - $159499.96 a year.

What you’ll do:
The Engineering Specialist will work closely with the Regional Project Engineers to support each EESS region. The Engineering Specialist will work to establish and maintain technical standards and specifications, technical expertise, drive customer satisfaction, QAQC, mentoring/training the broader Project Engineering team, and maintain business relationship both internal and external to Eaton. The primary purpose of this position is to provide applied technical and commercial consultation for EESS’s Project Engineering team in support of the growth of the Project Operations business throughout the country.
The position will provide national engineering support to create complete engineering design packages with the following responsibilities:
- Provide engineering leadership across the country by mentoring the broader engineering team.
- Acting as Subject Matter Expert (SME) by leading organization in current and emerging technology.
- Provide guidance/oversight to the standards committee for the development of drawing standards and specifications.
- Establish engineering program goals to grow the business throughout the country.
- Perform complex engineering work or act as lead engineer on complex projects to ensure successful delivery and mentorship.
- Perform QAQC in collaboration with Regional Project Engineers (RPE) to ensure high quality deliverables.
- Assist RPE in developing engineering design concepts and estimates at the proposal stage.
- Oversee development of electrical drawing packages including physical layouts, ground grid design, protection and control, and wiring.
- Assist RPE in leading engineering efforts on large turnkey projects with multiple engineering groups to ensure high quality and on-schedule deliverables.
- Provide technical oversight of civil engineering designs.
- Assist RPE in QA/QC review of internal and external designs for code compliance, accuracy, and constructability.
- Assist in development and enforcement of design and process standards.
- Providing technical guidance, value added engineering and constructability guidance during both the design and implementation phases.
- Mentoring and/or leading other engineers
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of power system transmission, distribution or generation design
- Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future
- No relocation offered for this position, only candidates within 50 miles of Glendale Heights, Illinois will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer qualification
- Protection and controls experience
- Familiarity with power system engineering calculations
- Knowledge of codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, ANSI
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Engineering project management experience
- Diverse application experience with power transmission, distribution or generation projects.
- Experience with commissioning support for power distribution projects.
