Job Posting Title: Engineering Supervisor Location: Dallas - Hospital Additional Posting Details: Mon - Friday, 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM Job Description: Duties/Responsibilities + Tradesman who is certified & proficient in one or more of the following trades as defined by TSRH Position Descriptions: o HVAC Techniciano Electriciano Plumbero Utilities Plant Operatoro Maintenance Mechanic + Able to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision, and able to make appropriate decisions in the absence of direct leadership + Able to work effectively in a team as well as individually as dictated by the situation and management. + Responsible for providing purpose, direction, and motivation for an assigned team of multi-trade, Engineering Department staff. Team typically consists of 2 – 10 personnel. Directly leads this team in the execution of assigned & implied tasks from Engineering Management. Responsible for all that the team does or fails to do. + Responsible for ensuring all assigned work and documentation is in keeping with TJC & other authorities having jurisdiction. Coordinates with appropriate TSRH staff to ensure compliance is met. Alerts the Director and Assistant director of Engineering when any violation of these standards is discovered. + Responsible for vetting all requests for supplies, parts, and equipment from the assigned team. + Responsible to requisition appropriately to provide for the team’s needs + Responsible for the safety, training, & professional development of assigned personnel. + Manages the work time, overtime, & requested PTO of self and assigned personnel per TSRH policy. + Assist the Director of Engineering in matters of performance counseling, reviews, and discipline. + Maintains accountability and fiscal responsibility for equipment and supplies of the assigned team + Competent to perform normal and emergency operation of all engineering & life safety systems of the hospital + Resourceful technician who troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical, mechanical, control, life safety, and HVAC/R equipment as part of a team + Expected to be a subject matter expert in his/her primary trade + Ensures that work sites are left clean, and that supplies, and equipment are maintained and accounted for. + Makes periodic inspections, noting general condition and keeping Engineering Management informed as the needs and/or changes required to keep the hospital in safe, well-maintained condition. + Responsible for the repair and maintenance records of assigned team members. + Reviews all documentation of the assigned team and provides guidance + Enforces all policies, standards, and directives of SRC, and the Engineering Department. + Incumbent is prepared to assume responsibilities for the Assistant Director of Engineering should the need arise. + Appropriately Interprets hospital policies to assigned personnel and enforces safety regulations. + Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. + Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. + Analyzes and resolves problems at the lowest appropriate level. + As assigned, develops Preventative Maintenance and Operational Procedures commensurate with TSRH policy, manufacturer’s recommendations, safety considerations, and good engineering practices. + Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual personnel, teams, & departments. Required Skills/Abilities + High school degree or equivalent required. + Meets the qualifications for one of the following (may substitute 10 years of relevant related experience):o Senior HVAC Techniciano Senior Maintenance Mechanico Journeyman Electriciano Journeyman Plumbero Stationary Engineer + Minimum of three years of experience in direct leadership of two or more direct reports preferred + Formal leadership training preferred. + Associates or higher degree in and engineering or project management discipline preferred. + Project Management experience, certification, or training preferred. + Emergency Generator operation experience preferred + Boiler plant (Central Utility Plant) operation experience preferred At Scottish Rite for Children, we work together with the common goal of helping give children back their childhood.
