Job Description
The Engineering Supervisor is an integral part of the site leadership team and is responsible for leading, managing and maintaining the performance of the plant production equipment for the CHEP Christchurch Service Centre, besides leading non hire (Plant Equipment) Capex project implementation at site, to ensure the site operates at the highest level of reliability and efficiencies.
In this pivotal role, you will be providing engineering and technical services to the Plant, including leading sole charge maintenance, providing first off attention to plant stoppages and administering/overseeing repairs within Service Centre budgetary and priority guidelines. You’ll be responsible for leading daily scheduling, prioritization, accurate execution and documentation of all work orders and spare parts usage within the corporate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – MEX.
Reporting to the NZ Engineering Manager and working closely with the Service Centre Manager, you’ll also be responsible for ensuring the most effective assessment and use of equipment performance data to advocate improvement and optimization plans, including Capex investments. You’ll lead site projects by implementing project management techniques to ensure capital and similar projects are completed within required time frames and budget. You will develop equipment assessments, installation, refurbishment, and optimization projects including capex plans. Additionally, you’ll support Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, Commissioning, Qualification, and Verification to ensure the smooth transition from engineering installation to operational ownership.
This role will also see you support the development and deployment of equipment / system operating procedures, as well as ensure all Engineering related documents are relevant and kept updated. You will be responsible and accountable for engineering safety outcome/requirements, occupational health and safety of contractors and suppliers in the production areas, promoting and applying SLAM and BASFR principles and utilising application software BEAKON.
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:
Ability to perform hands on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all plant pneumatics, robotic, hydraulics, and electric systemsSound technical ability and understanding of 24hr production and FMCG manufacturing environment.Experience in partnering with and overseeing outsourced/external/contractual services, to ensure all safety and legislative requirements are adhered toExcellent OHS&E exposure and demonstrated capability of operating in a high OHS&E environmentExperienced in the use of failsafe lock-out systems and electronic control systems- e.g., PLC logicDesign and documentation of maintenance and operational proceduresPlanning and scheduling preventative maintenance work using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
This is a salaried position for 40 hours per week. As you will be responsible for the engineering function of the Afternoon Shift (currently 2 pm – 12 am, Monday – Thursday, you will primarily work in the afternoon/evenings. However, you will need to be flexible in your approach to hours worked, as you will need to regularly cross over with the day shift Engineering Supervisor, as well as complete project work and out of hours maintenance outside of site operation hours, including weekends (approximately 2-3 times per month).
