Miller Brother Staffing in York, PA has the immediate need of an experienced Engineering Supervisor/Programmer.
PAY RATE – $85K-$92K based on experience
SHIFT— 1st Shift: 8AM-5PM Mon-Fri | General Office Hours with 1 hour for lunch, Hours in the field are per Customer Requirements… a typical day may look like … Writing programming/ Interacting with customers over the phone/ Troubleshooting issues via phone or email/ hands-on controls systems design, programming in the Shop, and installation at a Customer’s facility
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and development of equipment control systems Including the programming and hardware Following customer specifications Design of control panel layouts and interconnection diagrams High and low voltage electrical wiring design for all equipment Reviews all electrical drawings for accuracy and provide direction to subordinates Research and development of new equipment Testing / R&D work done prior to any implementation to ensure success Needs to communicate with others at Capway for buy in Purchase and inventory components associated with projects Ensure quality control and safety procedures Training subordinates in equipment function and operation Direct Capway UL Certification Program Provide customer support before, during and after installation of equipment Interact with vendors to determine application of technology updates Troubleshoot equipment via phone, online, or site visits Keeping all laptops updated with software as needed for job(s) new and old Also includes travel laptop for remote assistance for Service Technicians Support in-house electrical on wiring practices and questions Reports to VP of Operations when onsite at Capway Automation Reports to Service Manager (or designated supervisory personnel) when performing field work Must be willing to and able to travel both within the US and internationally (must be able to obtain passport) REQUIREMENTS: Prefer 4+ years of experience / knowledge of PLC systems/ Ladder Logic programming and HMI systems General Knowledge - have a strong understanding of The electrical, mechanical, software engineering principles needed to create and maintain automated processes Engineering design… Electrical Engineering degree a plus ControlLogix/CompactLogix with Robotic Motion and FactoryTalk View Studio (ME) for PV + programming required Design Skills When developing a new process, PLC programmers use strong program architecture principles to design and document it. Modify PLC/HMI templates as necessary and improve as needed Input and participation required during the Project and Mechanical Engineering design process to ensure proper Electrical Engineering integration Mechanical Skills When the time comes to physically put the process together, PLC programmers can complete the technical aspects of installation Some “Field Wiring” may be necessary while troubleshooting @ the Customers facility Logical reasoning/ Problem-solving skills Aside from using PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, programmers use rational steps and mathematical concepts to design project flows In a project with many parts and combination of software and electromechanical interfaces, things are bound to go wrong. PLC programmers must identify a problem’s source and create the best solution. Ability to work well under pressure and stay organized while solving problems
WORK REQUIREMENTS | PHYSICAL DEMANDS— Some of the physical demands for the position include being able to lift a weight of 35-50 lbs; Position requires frequent use of hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Must be open to occasional travel as “may” be needed occasionally, going to customer’s site for start-up, commissioning, and training. Comfortable working alone, as a team, and at times as the team leader.
