The Engineering Team Lead will lead a multi-discipline team of engineers to deliver projects, resolve manufacturing technical issues, and support strategic vision of the business at the Ethicon MedTech manufacturing facility in Athens, GA. The Engineering Team Lead will also act as project manager and provide direct technical support to manufacturing, as needed. This position will primarily support the Athens manufacturing facility which includes polymerization, extrusion, and absorbable suture processing operations.
Job Duties:
• Leads overall engineering activities to meet Ethicon Georgia Campus and Upstream Athens business unit goals and objectives
• Leads team in investigation of manufacturing non-conformances, EHS incidents, and other process and equipment issues
• Leads engineering projects and supports team in delivery of engineering projects (process validations, capital projects, CAPA, NPI, etc.) on time and within budget.
• Coaches team in development of technical performance metrics and dashboards (yield, process capability, cycle time, OEE, etc.) for assigned manufacturing processes
• Monitors and reports on team progress toward goals
• Collaborates with other plant functions (Mfg. Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Business Excellence, EHSS) to define and prioritize engineering project portfolio
• Participates in Georgia Campus business planning cycle and contributes to long range financial plan
• Promotes culture of innovation and continuous improvement to reduce manufacturing costs, increase production efficiency, and improve process capability.
• Reviews and approves validation documentation (IQ/CSV/OQ/PQ).
• Fosters growth and development of team members
• Ensures that team members follow all regulatory and company guidelines related to Quality, Compliance, EHSS, and Financial reporting
• This position entails approximately 75% people leadership and 25% project management.

• A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in a business or technical role is required. People leadership experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in manufacturing engineering is required.
• Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, etc.) is required.
• Knowledge of industrial control systems (PLC/DCS) is highly beneficial.
• Proficiency in project management is strongly preferred. Project management certification such as PMP or FPX is helpful.
• Knowledge of problem solving methodologies (Six Sigma, RCPS, Kepner Tregoe, PCDA, etc.) is strongly preferred. Six Sigma certification is a plus.
