Job Title: Engineering Team Leader

Salary: £55,516 + Dependent upon experience

Location: Peterborough

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary

An exciting opportunity to join the Low Pressure Fuel Systems (LPFS) team as an Engineering Team Leader focusing on current and future development of components and technologies. Key components include Fuel Filters, Fuel Lines and Electric Lift Pumps. The team is cross-platform and responsible for the LPFS across the IPSD-M engine range.

Full-time role hybrid - minimum 3 days per week on site

Up to 10% global travel.

What You Will Do

As an Engineering Team Leader within the LPFS team you will be expected to have product development experience, team leadership skills, knowledge of Internal Combustion engines and be able to lead, plan and execute challenging tasks/projects. Tasks will include:

Planning and managing project and sub-project deliverables

Lead several projects in parallel with support from subject matter experts and engineers

Ensure projects are meeting deadlines and milestones on time

Providing regular, concise and effective communication to a range of peers and stakeholders

Conducting risk assessment through effective FMEA generation on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs

Be capable of understanding technical issues as they arise and execute root cause analysis through relevant tools, methods, data analysis and testing to resolve the issue

Execution of validation work consisting of component, dyno and machine testing

Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project. Level Extensive Experience:

• Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.

• Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.

• Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production. Level Extensive Experience:

• Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.

• Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of products or services.

• Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.

• Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.

• Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed products or services.

Required Qualifications

Degree (or equivalent experience) in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
