This position is responsible for….

The Engineering Technician II supports various aspects of product development; builds or sets up equipment and fixtures, prepares and conducts experiments, collects data, analyzes and reports results, assists in design work, makes prototypes, and manages laboratory material and equipment.

Your day will be very busy… you will:

Works closely with Engineering and Quality teams, supporting them with the fabrication of prototypes for product development, using manufacturing methods (3D printing, die cutting, automatic fabric cutting, band sawing, sanding, drilling, and using other hand and power tools) following safety and training procedures.

 

Executes tasks and tests by independently reading and following schematics, engineering drawings, detailed work instructions, and test protocols.

 

Assembles and modifies components, prototypes, test samples, and engineering test fixtures.

 

Performs tests per test protocols, collects test data keeping its integrity, processes and analyzes data, prepares data for exchange with cross-functional teams, and supports report writing and release. This requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office tools.

 

Utilizes measurement tools to inspect parts and assess pass or fail versus engineering criteria for first article inspections, first shots, and other quality inspections.

 

Solves technical problems. Makes recommendation based on findings.

 

Assembles, installs, operates, maintains, calibrates, and repairs engineering test and modeling equipment like tensile and compression testers MTS (Multiteam Systems) or Instron, environmental chambers, ovens, infrared cameras, thermocouple loggers, cycle/fatigue testers, 3D printer, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine, waterjet cutter, etc.

 

Supports lab management by keeping databases up to date for equipment calibration, laboratory assets, preventative maintenance, and shipping/receiving.

 

Ensures that the proper supplies are available as needed and maintains the required equipment necessary to perform laboratory tasks.

 

Maintains the lab and machine shop areas applying 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) and lean concepts daily.

 

Sets up and operates machine tools, such as lathe, milling machine. Understands machine safety and demonstrates safety awareness.

 

Exhibits a strong emphasis for quality of work and data integrity on all tasks, which requires self-checking prior to completion.

 

Responsible for behaving in a professional manner both internally and externally in relationships that positively impact the company's reputation and comply with the company's policies and practices. Responsible for being accountable and committed to demonstrating Breg’s cultural beliefs and achieving the key results of the company.

 

Responsible for promoting Breg's culture within the organization using established tools such as storytelling, providing focused feedback, and recognition.  What your background will be:

Associate degree in Engineering from a college or equivalent trade school and 2+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Excellent time management and communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred. Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel: perform basic math and statistics functions, graphs, collect and record data in an organized and intelligible manner is required. Experience with statistical tools like Minitab is desired. Experience authoring reports or test result summaries is desired. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general engineering specifications, sketches, drawings, procedures, manuals, schematics and correspondence is required. Ability to use shop equipment and machinery to produce and test prototypes; knowledge of machine safety and machine limitations is required. Familiar with GDP (Good Documentation Practices), ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) related documentation is required. Ability to use pilot line equipment and machinery (sewing, riveting, etc.) is required. Knowledge of fundamental mechanical and electrical injection molding principles is preferred. Previous medical device, manufacturing or testing experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD/SolidWorks and their interfacing with 3D printing software is desired.

Salary/Pay Range:

$27.50 - $32.00 Per Hour

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for a bonus.
