Engineering Technician 1- Starting salary is $12.22/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked. Engineering Technician 2 - Starting salary is $14.00/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked. Engineering Technician 3 - Starting salary is $16.03/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked. Job Distinctions: Differs from higher level engineering technicians by the focus on learning basic methods, techniques and procedures and by the presence of detailed instructions and close supervision. The incumbent is required to possess the following specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as maintain the following licensing: • Class D Chauffeur's License • Class B COL License prior to permanent status • Drug Test is required • Will need to perform basic computer work • May require work operations that occur outside of normal work hours While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives. Duties & Responsibilities 40% Operates the Geotechnical Explorations Drilling Rig and Cone Penetrometer Truck (LECOPS). 20% Sets up and dismantles drill rig and ECPT truck; Sets up and dismantles Traffic Control Devices. 20% Drives Drill Rig, ECPT truck, tank truck, or utility truck to and from job sites. 5% Extrudes samples from Shelby tubing, assembling and breaking down split-spoon drive barrels, and cleaning samplers for future use. 5% Maintains the department's Geotechnical Exploration equipment and vehicles. 5% Clears obstacles such as trees and brush using chain saws and other tools to provide access to job sites. 5% May be required to perform duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
