  Verdantas is seeking an Engineering Technician. This position will be located in our Petoskey, MI office. 

Responsibilities: Produces construction drawings, maps, diagrams, and reports as needed using AutoCAD, ESRI, & MS Office software  Construction staking of power utility transmission and distribution line projects  Field inspection of power utility construction projects  Performs field mapping services utilizing GPS devices on overhead & underground lines and equipment  Performs field inventory of joint-use attachments to utility poles  Preparation of construction drawings for substation, transmission, and distribution line projects  Assistance with permitting for power utility construction projects 

Qualifications: High school diploma required.  Two-year associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Geography, GIS, or a related discipline or equivalent experience in a similar position is preferred 0-5 years of experience  Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications Familiarity with utility infrastructure and mapping systems including ESRI-based products  Must be able to understand mapping terminology, survey, and GIS concepts Must be able to operate, maintain, and protect expensive survey equipment including GPS units, laser range finders, and electronic transits Must be self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, and have strong interpersonal skills Must possess a Michigan Driver’s License Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
