Engineering Technician
Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for material testing of aggregate, soil, asphalt, concrete, and steel using both destructive and non-destructive methods. You will visit multiple job sites daily, interact with contractors and project owners, collect samples, and ensure compliance with shop drawings. You will also log and track test results from machines used in concrete and soil testing. Responsibilities + Conduct material testing for aggregate, soil, asphalt, concrete, and steel. + Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) and concrete density testing. + Visit multiple job sites daily throughout the area. + Interact with contractors, project owners, and other stakeholders. + Collect and test samples of soil, concrete, and foundations. + Inspect reinforcing steel for compliance with shop drawings. + Log and track test results from testing machines. Essential Skills + 2+ years of construction testing experience in earth, dirt work, concrete, steel, or related materials. + Experience with nuclear density, aggregate, asphalt, and transportation-related projects. + Active Driver's License. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, or a similar field is preferred. Work Environment This is a family-run company where employees are treated like family. Managers assist with projects and support in any role needed. The average tenure is 15+ years, reflecting the company's investment in its people. You will have access to a company vehicle for travel to and from sites. Work hours range from 45-60 hours a week, sometimes 6 days a week, starting between 5am and 7am until the job is done. There are 15 field technicians and 6 office staff, including administrative personnel, project managers, and an engineer. The company's clients are primarily in the Midwest, including IL, MN, and WI. The company offers flexibility with time off, ample overtime opportunities, and support for obtaining certifications and further education. Recent projects include work at Camp Dodge, the Airport, Iowa Speedway, and state DOT projects. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
