Job Description
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to gain experience in an engineering environment performing R&D testing at a highly established company at the top of their industry. The role involves setting up, running, and maintaining large engineering test benches in a controlled lab environment. You will perform capacity, volume, durability, and performance tests for large industrial systems, and occasionally fabricate sheet metal parts. Comfort with recording and interpreting data in software such as Microsoft Excel is essential.
ResponsibilitiesSet up, run, and maintain large engineering test benches in a controlled lab environment.Perform capacity, volume, durability, and performance tests for large industrial systems.Occasionally fabricate sheet metal parts.Record and interpret data in Microsoft Excel.Consult with the test requestor and/or lab manager to determine appropriate testing methods and understand desired outcomes for standard products.Set up and conduct performance tests using established standardized formats and procedures to identify performance ratings.Prepare accurate test data for interpretation and analysis.Identify test equipment issues and communicate them to more senior level technicians or supervisors.Operate and maintain lab equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency of testing.Assist with equipment calibration and perform basic test bench maintenance under supervision.Keep the lab manager informed of testing activity and challenges on an ongoing basis.Perform operational lab duties as apparent or as assigned.Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Essential SkillsMechanical aptitude.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Attention to detail.Ability to perform data entry and data analysis.Communication skills including interactions with leadership and engineering departments.Experience within an engineering test lab.Understanding of testing procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociates degree in engineering technology, automotive technology, mechanical maintenance, or similar field.Exposure to sheet metal fabrication.Demonstrated ability to build and troubleshoot mechanical systems.Knowledge of working with test equipment and components such as transducers, pulse valves, manifolds, compressed air, pressure and humidity chambers.Work Environment
The position is based in an industrial air lab where large units for power plants or filters for hoods over welding stations are tested. The facility spans 15,000 square feet and the team consists of 5 lab technicians. The role is primarily individual work once up to speed, with some team collaboration. The first shift schedule is adhered to, and PPE including safety shoes (steel toe), hearing protection (ear plugs), and safety glasses are required in the lab.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00
