Responsibilities Engineering technician position available within the ESI Readiness Engineering Portfolio, Rapid Reaction and Response, Exploitation Analysis and Response Division, Replication Evaluation and Mitigation Branch. Requires strong oral and written communication skills, ability to participate in and lead government technical reviews, provide briefings to high-level government personnel, and think critically to deliver desired results with minimal guidance. Responsible for the rapid prototyping and reverse engineering of identified electro-mechanical part/assemblies and systems of interest to include Uncrewed Systems (UXS), Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and commercial threat technology. Incumbent shall possess experience in Technical Design and Testing, supporting engineers in design investigations and development, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Fabrication, PCB Assembly, Incumbent shall possess experience in Technical Design and Testing, supporting engineers in Soldering, Wiring Harness Design and Fabrication, and RF technologies. Incumbent shall have familiarity with CAD software, 3D printing, RF test equipment, engineering drawings, PCB troubleshooting, and Hazmat procedures. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or band is required. It is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE-02 pay band (or GS-11 level or higher equivalency) in the Federal Service which includes experience in one or more of the following areas: Understanding of commercial based threat technology and its potential use on the battlefield for nefarious purposes and/or in identifying, developing, integrating, and fabricating accurate and representative commercial technology. Fabricating and assembling Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) with both surface mount and through-hole components Testing and characterizing RF components including transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, Current Power Supply (CPS), and digital circuits using equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and mixed-signal generators Interpreting engineering drawings, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, and engineering fabrication instructions to ensure precise construction and/or reliability of fabricated devices Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. This is a Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project position and incorporates the GS-12 step 01 through GS-13 step 10. This position is a TERM not-to-exceed six year's position. This position may be extended, without limit, in up to six-year increments. This appointment is designated as a ''status'' appointment for the purpose of eligibility for positions in the Federal service in accordance with section 1109(b)(1)(B) of NDAA for FY 2016.
