Summary You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Facility and Infrastructure Management Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. Responsibilities You will provide assistance in the continual refinement of facility requirements based on customer needs and overall plant requirements and readiness. You will offer assistance in the preparation and justification of short and long-range plans for modification, rearrangements and modernization of industrial processing and support shops. You will analyze floors, walls, roofs and drain systems for safe operation and condition as well as coordinate studies for continual improvements to the facilities and supporting systems. You will manage plant equipment by identifying and analyzing customer requirements to ensure planned maintenance cycles are current and being carried out by maintenance crew. You will determine specific project requirements with customers and facilitate in the development of necessary engineering drawings, sketches, and supporting documentation for project implementation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Providing assistance in the continual refinement of facility requirements based on customer needs and overall plant requirements and readiness; (2) Offering assistance in the preparation and justification of short and long-range plans for modification, rearrangements and modernization of industrial processing and support shops; (3) Analyzing floors, walls, roofs and drain systems for safe operation and condition as well as coordinating studies for continual improvements to the facilities and supporting systems; (4) Managing plant equipment by identifying and analyzing customer requirements while evaluating equipment to ensure planned maintenance cycles are current and being carried out by maintenance crew; and (5) Determining specific project requirements with customers and facilitating in the development of necessary engineering drawings, sketches, and supporting documentation for project implementation. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. OR Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Certification by the Institute will be helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience.
