Summary About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), Infastructure Science and Engineering Division, Materials and Structures Branch. Responsibilities Lead the formation and execute technical solutions based on laboratory experience and knowledge of construction and engineering Direct work of other technicians and researchers Coordinate work within and outside of the direct research area with other technicians and researchers Lead and responsible for installation, maintenance, and operation of complex systems Collect and analyze data according to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards Operate laboratory instruments including gas chromatographs, microscopes, viscometers, adhesion testers, accelerated weathering chambers, impact and abrasion testers, centrifuges, and other related equipment. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Operating laboratory equipment according to regulations/standards; Overseeing various staff who are preforming laboratory tests; and Coordinating lab tests with various staff. . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DE-03 (GS-10). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Design General Engineering Technical Competence Technology Application Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent DE-03 (GS-10). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
