Job Description

The Sr. Engineering Technician-Manufacturing is responsible for the activities associated with development, implementation, and maintenance of composite manufacturing methods, processes, and operations for new and existing composite aerospace products and assemblies. This includes ensuring the effective use of materials and equipment in producing quality products that meet customer requirements at minimum costs. The Engineering Technician position develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequences, and processes in the manufacture and fabrication of parts, which include the estimation of manufacturing costs, time standards, and the ability to recommend tooling and process requirements for new and existing products. Additionally, the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Technician will provide high-level technical expertise to integrated product team members for thermal processing of polymer matrix materials, tooling design and maintenance.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical design and engineering responsibility for identified or assigned project tasks.Conceptualize composite molding and fabrication process flow and generate CAD parts, assemblies, and drawings to support production tooling for molding, assembly, and inspection.Design, implement, and review production tooling and fixtures.Engage in daily interaction with engineering team members to support internal and external projects.Interface with the Engineering Director for high-risk items requiring additional consultation to reduce manufacturing risk.Provide technical guidance to engineers without composite and composite processing knowledge in support of production processes.Research and select equipment, vendors, and consultants required for task resolution.Identify, maintain, and control production processes through SPC and data analysis of KPIs.Provide root cause and corrective action for out-of-control processes in support of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.Create and review thermal, pressure, and position cure recipes for production processes and provide input to the program engineer as required.Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude with equipment and tooling, and the ability to visually inspect components for causes of part defects and assembly issues.Create tooling recall inspection KPI criteria.Develop rework procedures for tooling to meet drawing requirements.Rework details using hand tools as required.Conduct data analysis to determine root cause and corrective action for suspect cure data.Present tooling and equipment improvements to internal and external customers.Essential SkillsExperience with AS9100 quality management system.Excellent working knowledge of GD&T via ASME Y14.5-2018.Composites Manufacturing.PLC Programming.Troubleshooting.Solidworks CAD.Engineering.Blueprint reading.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong mechanical aptitude with equipment and tooling.Ability to visually inspect components for causes of part defects and assembly issues.Work Environment

The work environment involves daily interaction with engineering team members to support both internal and external projects. This role may require interfacing with the Engineering Director for high-risk items, though the expectation is that the individual will have the experience and expertise to solve most problems independently. The role involves working with various equipment and tooling, and may require using hand tools for rework procedures. The position supports production processes and requires compliance with AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
