Engineering Technician
Position Description Directly support the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), F/A-18 & EA-18G Fleet Support Team (FST) In-Service Support Center (ISSC) at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island, California. Duties will include: + Modifies and fabricates one-of-a-kind precision measurement equipment components and subassemblies for performing applied experiments. Uses concepts based on individual knowledge and skill to perform fabrication and testing. + Conceives and recommends to higher graded engineers and scientists in the Navy and at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, (NIST), new techniques for primary measurement equipment, systems, and support equipment. Plans the basic approach assuring compatibility with other parts of the equipment or system. + Writes instrument procedures, and setups for precision measurements systems. + Observes equipment/system operation during testing to detect malfunctions, assuring that data developed is complete, valid, accurate and sufficient to characterize equipment/system operational parameters. + Prepares technical reports and memoranda outlining test problems, approaches taken, data accumulated, conclusions reached, and recommendations made. + Coordinates with and assists metrology engineering personnel in defining specific problems such as repetitive equipment failures or malfunctions. + Reviews technical literature from industry, government agencies, and professional and academic organizations to keep abreast of the latest developments in primary measurement systems and technology. + Assists in the planning and installation of new equipment, prepares technical specifications for the procurement of new equipment. + Provides continuing technical expertise to engineering, technician, and maintenance personnel on the operation, and maintenance of precision measurement equipment. + Applies statistical process control and measurement systems error analysis in determining calibration tolerances and refining measurement techniques. Maintains records of the measurement history of all standards to determine trends. + Provides training to other laboratory personnel in technical processes and precision measurement techniques. Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in systems administration. Current Secret clearance is required. No per diem. Work location at NAS North Island, CA area. Start date is ASAP. Minimum Experience Requirements: At least three (3) years of practical experience in "Relevant Technical Field". Minimum Education Requirements: HS Diploma/GED Minimum Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, in an office environment. Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. repetitively. Base Salary Range: $40.00-45.00 This base pay range is specific to residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Washington, and any other state that may require such disclosure. Compensation in other geographies may vary. Base salary is just one component of LMI’s total rewards philosophy.
