Engineering Technician IV

Our work depends on an Engineering Technician IV joining our GDIT technician team to work with the FAA Civil Engineering team to evaluate new airport pavement technologies and concrete and asphalt pavement structures to upgrade current and new airports worldwide.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: High School Diploma with some technical electrical/electronics schooling.
● Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience
● Required Technical Skills:

The candidate will be expected to assist in building and troubleshooting data acquisition systems designed by onsite engineers. The candidate will also perform installations of various pavement instrumentation at the FAA William J. Hughes National Airport Pavement Test Facility (NAPTF) ACY Airport, NJ and selected airports across the country.  In addition to data acquisition and instrumentation candidate will also support acceptance and post traffic testing at the NAPTF.

● Security Clearance Level: Public Trust

● Preferred Skills: The preferred candidate shall have formal technical training to provide electrical expertise in key techncial pavement research areas needed to support Airport Technology Research and Development (ATRD) Facilities Operations and Maintenance tasks. The tasks are related to applied research, design, development, testing, process improvement, or other fields of tasking.

Preferred Skils include:

General maintenance of equipment

Instrumentation and wiring of test objects

Working knowledge of MS Office

Capable of reading electrical drawings and schematics.

Data Acquisition and Systems

Troubleshooting of test equipment and instrumentation

Data Acquisition includes- LabVIEW, National Instruments, Campbell Scientific, etc.

Instrumentation includes- Asphalt Strain Gages, Multi-Depth Deflectometers, Thermocouples, Fiber Optic Strain Gages, Pressure Cells, Moisture Sensors, Suction Sensors, etc.

Testing includes- Heavy Weight Deflectometers, CBR, Plateload, etc.
