Responsibilities You will be responsible for ensuring all items of Elevators and Vertical Transportation Equipment (VTE) are in safe operating condition and certified in accordance with department policies. You will inspect new or existing elevators, escalators, equipment lifts, dumbwaiters, and other types of passenger and freight elevators to ensure compliance with the applicable codes. You will perform submittal review and approval for all VTE installations to ensure compliance with all applicable safety codes, standards, and criteria. You will schedules and coordinates the periodic VTE inspections, testing, and certification with different customers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identify deficiencies in physical condition of VTE via planned inspections, special inspections and customer work request; 2) Read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings to define applicable criteria for new facility designs and for VTE systems; 3) Extensive technical experience of electrical, mechanical, structural and fire protection engineering fields, utilizing procedures, practices and feasibility of engineering methods to provide solutions to critical problems within the electrical, mechanical, structural and fire protection engineering fields; 4) Interpreting Vertical Transportation Equipment (VTE) design criteria, American Society of Mechanical Engineer safety codes, ASME inspection manuals, National Electric Code and National Fire Protection Association codes as it applies to VTE and; 5) Develop, collect, analyze, evaluation and interpret full range of technical data, and utilizing Microsoft Software ( Word, Excel and Power Point).
