Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will NOT be accepted through this flyer. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. Responsibilities Processes hydrographic and topographic data for use in volumes and drawings. Ensures correctness of all data prior to submission for review. Ability to adapt to changing conditions and goals as the requirements on any given day are subject to changes. Creates Computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and volume reports from processed data for distribution to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and public access. Maintains complete and accurate files for all associated survey data and file structures on the USACE shared drive. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-09 - Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing assignments working with drafting field data collection; 2) Knowledgeable of principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods; and 3) Editing incoming survey data and reviews it for accuracy and completeness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Two years of graduate level education or a master's degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management, or related field of study. If you meet this requirement based on education, you MUST submit a copy of your transcript with your application package. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. GS-10 - Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing work in land/hydrographic surveying; 2) Performing assignments with drafting field data collection and knowledge of principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods. 3) Experience with volumetric calculations with hydrographic data and able to set up projects from start to finish with little input from supervisors or higher graded personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
