POSITION SUMMARY:
This primary responsibility of this position is within the ORV Field Performance team. Support the development, and execution of compliance and safety related projects and testing that positions Polaris as the leader in the off-road vehicle industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support development of standards and compliance procedures.Support testing associated with demonstrating compliance to standards.Benchmarking of vehicles with respect to the regulatory requirements they fall within.Support team members with data and testing results.Training for Engineering Technician peers on new procedures.Lead the fabrication and assembly of concept components and vehicles. Will include welding, manual machining, sheet metal fabrication, and tube bending.Provide guidance on designs.Operate Polaris vehicles near vehicle capability limit in severe conditions.Perform a variety of development tests in the field and lab to support understanding of vehicle performance.Organize and lead development activity for assigned projects.Utilize data acquisition loggers to capture information relevant to performance, calibrations, and/or issue resolution.Apply instrumentation that allows accurate measurement of strain, acceleration, torque, pressure, force, etc.Operate Test Hardware and Software including Somat, ETAS Inca, VBOX, MTS, Reliasoft, nCode, and Microsoft productsSetup vehicles for testing and perform tests.Keep good records, analyze and interpret test data and write concise, accurate test reports.Maintain strict confidentiality.Maintain a clean, safe work area and meet OSHA requirements.Good self-starter, willing to work overtime as needed.Must be willing to travel periodically to do product evaluation and development.Able to communicate professionally and drive projects to timely completion.Support other initiatives that relate to product safety & compliance.QUALIFIATIONS
High school diploma required; 2-Year or 4-Year degree in technical field preferredBasic computer skills required; Data acquisition & diagnostic tool experience preferred.Valid driver’s license requiredMust be capable of operating powersports vehicles in extreme conditionsMust be capable of driving trucks with trailers (<26,000 GCVR)Must be capable of operating fork lifts & skid loadersHands-on problem-solving experience along with mechanical aptitudeDecisive, self-motivated, and prone to actionAbility to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitudePowersports experience preferredBasic fabrication & welding required3+ years mechanic or technician experience preferredLocation: Eden, Texas#LI-CS99
