Job Description:

Position Title:  Engineering Technician, Pit Crew

Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group – Heil Environmental

Location: Fort Payne, AL

Reports to: Pit Crew Supervisor

Department: Operations

Shift: 1st shift

Position Summary: 

Carry out and support daily tasks which require: blue print interpretations, fabrication, welding, product assembly, electrical and electronic installation, hydraulic component installation, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair. Tasks to be performed in, but not limited to: the prototype shop, test lab and production lines during pre-release and first article implementation.

Some repairs will require to be performed on used equipment for Demo/Concept fleet. This may also require some local travel, so a valid driver’s license is required.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

Experienced welder. Experienced at reading and following drawings including electrical or weld symbols. Able to adapt to ever changing tasks. Detail oriented. Follows instructions precisely. Familiar with basic electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and structures. Patience to evaluate multiple solutions to a problem. Basic computer skills or aptitude for learning. Willingness to learn advanced measurement and fabrication skills. Minimal travel up to 10% may be needed.

Additional Duties:

Duties include steel structure fabrication, experienced welding skills, prototype part fabrication skills, and light machining skills as well as hydraulic and electrical work on new and used units.  The candidate should possess a solid understanding of drawing interpretation including B.O.M., weld symbols, construction method, and fabrication best practices. This job typically requires no overtime, but when notified the employee must be available for it. This position provides the technician with the opportunity to see new and developing equipment and ideas. It also affords the person with the opportunity to learn and advance in the company with dedication. Desired skills include precision measurement experience, C.M.M. operation, and typical machining skills.

Requirements:

Education:  Requires a High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, lists and billing materials; use PC based applications, including Mainstar, Outlook, and Microsoft Office, knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience.

Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of time.

Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70%, lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15% of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of time.

Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment, meters, chains hoists, automatic drills and general hand tools and to record written information.

Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.

Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.

Environmental: Involves exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
