Thermo King is hiring a Applied Mechanics Technician II in Minneapolis, MN. In this role, you will work with the Applied Mechanics team to support testing of Transport Refrigeration product designs, and to address reliability with existing products in the areas of acoustics, vibrations, and fatigue.  This role works closely with various product and technology development teams, and with global engineering support center personnel around the globe.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as onsite.

What you will do:

Supports laboratory operations by performing routine laboratory tests and procedures.Calibrate, instrument, and perform standard and non-standard tests to collect data for critical project supportAssists more senior technicians with more complex testing procedures.Works as an individual contributor role under moderate supervision.Maintain laboratory equipment and perform required quality assuranceApply knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology principles, techniques, procedures and equipment) to the validation and qualification of our productsFollow existing test procedures, documenting and effectively communicating resultsSupport the operation, maintenance, and repair for applied mechanics lab assetsFamiliar with test for structural reliability.Detailed documentation of testing progress, observations, and results with support from test engineers.Assist in planning tests to effectively execute tests which may validate simulation models, assess risk, or validate full durability tests. Testing includes but not limited to measuring acceleration on shaker tables, strain gauge, structural dynamics, tensile lab operations, and occasional field testing.Support process improvement activities to individual and group work

What you will bring:

Highschool & on the job experience required (3-5 years).  Engineering technology or associates degree preferred.Experience with hands on mechanical experience required (Ex: mechanic, service technician, fork lift mechanic, auto mechanic, farm mechanic, fabricator, etc…)Team work experience & openness to coaching required.Attention to detail and organization is required.Experience with data acquisition is required, experience with high-speed data acquisition is a plus.Experience in performing applied mechanics test is a plus.Experience with structural data acquisition systems, both hardware and software, as well as mechanical strain measurement is a plus. Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) is required.Strong teamwork, interpersonal, & communication skills are required.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $70,000-$80,000
