Job Summary

Primarily responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with the implementation and management of the Company Owned Service Transition Program including budget administration.  Manage the company’s lighting program including street and outdoor lighting.  Serve new and existing customers by expanding and maintaining the ED distribution system.  Identify and design small system improvement and reliability projects.  Oversee the Fault Indicator Maintenance program.  Assist with office and field data gathering for the Accident Case Program, as required. 

Duties and Responsibilities Manage the Electric Division’s Company Owned Service Transition Program.  Manage all aspects including customer outreach, contractor procurement, quality and payment, tracking program activity and preparing annual reports.  Managing electrical contractors and bid documents for relating to the COS program. As UGI Electric Division's street lighting technician, contact customers regarding installation, updating, and removal of both street lighting and area (outdoor) lighting.  This includes all field work related to the design layout, preparing contracts, and issuing all related work orders.  Work includes large installation that are commonly marketed through written proposals to the customer.  Prepare company construction authorizations for large lighting installations.  Manage Municipal lighting accounts.  Prepare and bid out the yearly re-lamping contract. Design expansions to the distribution system to serve new customers and new load of existing customers.  Meet with residential and small business customers or their agent(s) to identify their service requirements, explain ED's requirements, and process for extending service, and authorize new service entrance locations.  Produce the necessary design documents to accomplish the project, obtain the necessary right-of-way and permits, stake out the project in the field, deliver the design to C&M, and schedule the construction to be completed in time to meet the customer's needs. Identify and design small distribution system projects to improve the safety, reliability, and adequacy of service to existing customers.  This includes secondary modernization, re-sectionalizing, load balancing, transformer and recloser change out, and small distribution line conversion, clearance issues, relocations and end of life replacement projects.  Produce the necessary design documents to accomplish these projects, obtain the required right-of-way and permits, stake out the project in the field, and deliver the design to C&M in a timely manner.  Trouble shoot and resolve service issues such as fluctuating lights, stray voltage, and inadequate voltage. Oversee the Fault Indicator Maintenance Program.  Assist the main Electric Division’s Accident Case representative with the Accident Case Process, as required.  This Accident Case Process work involves field review of facility to gather information about the accident, use of all UGI systems containing pertinent information, and assisting with Cost Package development.  Also, work with clerical group for gathering information. Assist in the restoration of service due to storm damage or equipment failure.  Provide coverage for other technicians during their absence.  Review all mapping updates resulting from work produced to assure accurate representation.  Perform other related duties. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of UGI's distribution line construction standards, methods, and equipment. Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code and National Electric Code. PA 1-Call, and OSHA regulations pertaining to electric distribution work. Knowledge of UGI’s safety rules. Knowledge of electrical distribution equipment & power requirements. Knowledge of UGI’s Electric Service Tariff. Knowledge of the UGI contractor/procurement process and the ability to develop a comprehensive scope of work. Knowledge of end use electrical equipment including lighting, electric machinery, and other electric apparatus. Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively both written and verbal.  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to deal with the public and represent the company in a professional manner.  Ability to organize and deploy resources effectively. Ability to work independently and manage projects from start to completion.  Ability to adapt standard practices to meet unique customer needs. Knowledge of UGI internal systems such as SAP, DOJM and other systems. Education and Experience A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Business or equivalent degree is preferred.  Extent of experience will be considered if education is not in-line with the education requirement. This position recommends two (2) years of experience with increasing responsibility and skill level.
