Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is currently seeking an Engineering Technician 2/3 to support on-site at our Rocket Center, West Virginia location.
This position will be on-site and no remote opportunities are available.
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Use personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Conduct daily operations of analytical instruments to ensure accurate data collection and analysis for research purposesPerform audits of hazardous waste inventory to ensure compliance with safety regulations and accuracy within the designated research areaHandle energetic and hazardous materials on a daily basisAbility to cover off shift and weekend operationsOperate various computer systems and manage database entriesMaintain accurate records of explosive inventory and ensure compliance with established limits across all facility buildingsPerforms standard analytical test methods and/or mixing operations for quality control, material assessment, or engineering evaluation.Performs mathematical calculations using established formulas.Performs quantitative judgments concerning technical data.Provides technical support across multiple disciplines.Monitor gage, instrument, and equipment calibrations.Minimum Qualifications:
LEVEL 2: High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experienceLEVEL 3: High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experienceMust be willing to work off shifts and weekendsAbility to lift 50 poundsExperience working in an analytical labDemonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshootingAbility to work independently and with minimum supervisionProficient in MS officeUnderstanding of energetics, hazardous chemicals, and solventsPreferred Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experienceMS Office tools including Excel and WordExtensive experience handling energetics, hazardous chemicals, and solventsFull understanding of computer control systems, including Solumina and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), to streamline data management and operational efficiencySample preparation of cured materialsWorking knowledge of material sensitivity testing for hazard analysisBurn rate analysis of energetic materialsExperience assisting the plant maintenance department and off-site contractors on test equipment to ensure proper operationKnowledge of data distribution to appropriate personnel or areaExperience of sparging and drying of nitramines and liquid explosivesSalary Range: $47,000.00 - $78,300.00Salary Range 2: $55,800.00 - $93,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
