Responsibilities You will primarily provide shipboard personnel with authoritative technical assistance in resolving problems that are beyond their capability or scope of knowledge. You will work on on Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems onboard U.S. Navy submarines. You will work on systems such as Electrical System (motor controllers, motor generators, automatic and manual breakers, galley equipment and vent heaters), Atmospheric Control, Ventilation Systems, and Hydraulic Systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This public notice flyer will be used to fill vacancies for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY&IMF) positions in the Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 210). 1. Seeking out qualified individual who have maintenance experience working on Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems onboard U.S. Navy submarines. These systems include, but are not limited to, various Electrical System (motor controllers, motor generators, automatic and manual breakers, galley equipment and vent heaters), Atmospheric Control, Ventilation Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Steering and Diving Systems. 2. The primary duty of this position is to provide shipboard personnel with authoritative technical assistance in resolving problems that are beyond their capability or scope of knowledge. 3. Other duties may include performing shipboard assessments of cognizant systems, working with Type Commanders and In-Service Engineering Activities (ISEA) to resolve problem with Technical Manual and or procedures and working with other engineers in the Planning and Engineering Department in Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard to identify work and problem resolutions. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. Eligible DoD career or career conditional employees shall be granted statutory return rights to their former position for a period of 5 years if continuously employed in a foreign or non-foreign area provided by Executive Order 10895 and DoDI 1400.25, v 1230. Employees that do not exercise their return rights within five years are no longer eligible for return rights and will be treated as a local hire. Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. PCS is not authorized. This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management. Vacancies filled from this announcement may be filled at any grade level listed. If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management.
