English Language Learner Teacher/Coordinator JobID: 1052 + Position Type: District Wide/ ESL + Date Posted: 1/15/2025 + Location: Marion Independent School District + Date Available: 08/01/2025    JOB TITLE: English Language Learner Teacher/Coordinator REPORTS TO: Principal at Francis Marion Intermediate STATUS: Full Time, Salary established by Board of DirectorsBASIC FUNCTION: The ELL Teacher supports the educational development of multilingual learners by preparing and delivering instruction aligned with Iowa Core Standards and district-identified priority standards. The teacher evaluates student progress through formative and summative assessments, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can achieve their full potential. This role contributes to the school system’s mission of maximizing educational opportunities for all students.EVALUATION: Evaluation will be completed through input from building principals ESSENTAIL DUTIES and RESPONSIBLITIES: Instruction and Planning + Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Iowa Core Standards and students’ individualized education goals. + Utilize research-based instructional strategies to create engaging and relevant learning experiences tailored to multilingual learners. + Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate appropriate services and integrate ELL instruction into the general education curriculum. Assessment and Evaluation + Administer and analyze classroom-based and district assessments to monitor student progress. + Adjust instruction based on assessment data to meet the diverse needs of ELL students. + Conduct annual required ELL assessments (ELPA21) and maintain up-to-date student performance records. Collaboration and Communication + Work collaboratively with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to support student success. + Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, evaluation methods, and strategies to support learning at home. + Provide professional development for staff in accordance with the district’s Lau Plan and ELL program goals. Classroom and Behavior Management + Maintain a structured and organized classroom environment that promotes student engagement and safety. + Implement classroom management strategies to support a productive learning environment. Compliance and Reporting + Complete all required documentation, including annual reports for ELL students, in a timely manner. + Ensure accurate student data management, including updates in PowerSchool. + Participate in the annual evaluation and revision of the district’s ELL services and Lau Plan. Professional Growth + Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices and support multilingual learners. + Stay informed about current research, methodologies, and best practices in English language learning. Additional Responsibilities for ELL Teachers: + Notify parents/guardians of eligible ELL students promptly. + Coordinate ELL services with regular classroom instruction to ensure alignment with curriculum goals. + Administer annual assessments for multilingual learners and ensure compliance with state and district requirements. + Apply for Title III grant funding and coordinate grant-supported services annually QUALIFICATIONS : Education & Certification + Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field (required) + Valid Iowa Teaching License with K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement + Mandatory Reporter Certification: Child and Adult Dependent Abuse (required) + OSHA Certification (required) + Successful completion of a background check Skills & Competencies + Strong knowledge of English language acquisition and instructional strategies + Proficiency in differentiating instruction for diverse learners + Effective communication and collaboration skills + Ability to use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
