There are three focus areas within eCoE:Financial BackboneDigital InnovationAnalytics and InsightsWithin the eCOE, the R&D Outcome Based Community (OBC) focuses on delivering a high-level of financial expertise, innovative insights, and an entrepreneurial mindset to influence and support R&D investments at Roche. In this role, you will have interactions with senior finance leaders and influence decision-making. You will be part of a global organization and enhance your connection within Roche Finance. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to different functions and communities.
As a member of the R&D OBC and eCoE, you demonstrate strong analytical skills and possess R&D experience or strong interest to learn R&D. You will bring a flexible working approach with an ability to pivot to where support is needed. You are a self-starter and have the ability to flex beyond immediate job scope. You are detail-oriented and comfortable working with a large dataset.You will exhibit abilities to navigate a dynamic environment and work across various systems and you will help to articulate & visualize a financial story in an impactful manner. International experience and specific Roche Pharma R&D knowledge are a plus.
In addition, you bring the following core skills:
Master’s degree in Finance or business administration, economics and 5-10 years of work experience in a similar role
Strong analytical and communication skills
Foundational finance and accounting expertise
Dependable and ability to deliver results
Ability to partner with senior Finance stakeholders and build trusted relationships across Finance (eg. FEPs, R&D Leads, Pharma Division)
Ability to sense what is needed and be proactive
Strong excel and modeling capabilities
Ability to turn data into insights, comfortable with zooming in and out on details and granularity depending on the situation
Collaborative team player with ability to deal with ambiguous situations and deliver in a networked setup
Courageously authentic with ability to speak up and point out opportunities
In your role you will be primarily focused on Genentech Research and Early Development Unit (gRED) and your main responsibilities will be:
Thought partner to the gRED R&D Finance Lead for strategic as well as operational Finance topics
Provide analytics & insights to the gRED R&D Finance Lead and Finance Enterprise Partners (FEPs) to drive the right dialogues and decisions along the yearly financial cycle
Accountable for the E2E coordination of key financial events (MTOs, BP, Target Setting); ensure financial discipline
E2E ownership of operational work-packages in areas such as month-end closing & reporting incl relevant stakeholder management
Seamlessly partner with the FEPs community and the R&D Finance Enablers (R&D Network & eCoE) to deliver outcomes as one team
Team up and collaborate with other SPOCs on strategic priorities with data, analytics and tracking progress
Ensures integrity of financials (validation, accurate recognition) and orchestrates collection of inputs from FEPs (e.g. monthly narratives)

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco is $135,900- $252,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
