Enterprise Principal Security Architect – AI, Zero Trust, Cloud, & Innovation (Enterprise Principal Architect)

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and in office 1 - 2 days per week).  Ideal candidates will live or be willing to relocate to within 50 miles of one of our Pulse Point locations in Indianapolis, IN, Atlanta, GA, and Mason, OH.

The Enterprise Principal Security Architect – AI, Zero Trust, Cloud, & Innovation (Enterprise Principal Architect) will develop and drive our Enterprise Security Architecture models and strategies. The selected candidate will align Elevance Health’s systems and information assets with business and IT needs recognized security standards. They will develop security strategies, define reference architectures, guide solution architecture, and collaborate on Enterprise Architecture governance to ensure robust and compliant security frameworks.

Recommends new technologies for domains based upon business value drivers and return on investment.

Drives new technologies towards implementation and exploitation. 

Establishes overall systems architecture vision and ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged.

Contributes to the holistic vision of Enterprise Architecture. 

Takes responsibility for health of overall architecture for market segment. 

Maintains components of architecture strategy and vision. 

Maintains enterprise level blueprints. 

Coordinates all enterprise-level conceptual architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture. 

Monitors usage of architectural components and assumes responsibility for reuse. 

Drives system migration based upon roadmaps defined in enterprise and domain blueprints. 

Leads architecture strategy and vision for enterprise. Ensures blueprints are refreshed as needs emerge or in accordance to plan of record changes. 

Provides continuous consulting services and direction in projects and architectures. 

Champions and responsible for enterprise level technology and architectural standards, guidelines, principles, frameworks, and reference models. 

Defines systems, technical, and application architectures for new strategic initiatives.

Develops and maintains an architectural blueprint and evolutionary roadmap that defines and communicates the strategic direction for these architectures in support of business and technical strategies.

Explains how the roadmap maintains and delivers cost effectiveness, business value, and competitiveness.

Establish AI security controls and governance in alignment with frameworks and standards such as NIST's AI Risk Management Framework, CISA's guidelines on deploying AI systems securely, MITRE ATLAS, FS-ISAC's adversarial AI frameworks, HIPAA regulations, and HITRUST's AI assurance program.

Creates and executes AI security strategy aligned with business goals. 

Maintains security architecture standards and collaborates within the OCISO for unified security.

Designs secure AI/ML architectures with Zero Trust, ensuring adherence to best practices.

Defines components for large AI/cloud projects and integrates security controls with IT to meet business and regulatory standards.

Assesses AI security risks, ensures compliance, and balances requirements to minimize risk while enabling innovation.

Adopts AI security technologies, influences standards, innovates asset protection, and represents Elevance Health to establish industry leadership.

Collaborates to translate strategy into capabilities, addressing security gaps, and guide IT in embedding security across SDLC and MDLC.

Collaborates with data scientists and DevOps to integrate security into AI development.

Simplifies technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and engages in governance processes for organizational alignment.

Builds and mentors security teams focused on AI and cloud innovation.

Guides junior architects, ensuring knowledge transfer, and foster a culture of learning and collaboration.

Minimum requirements:

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in architecture/design in relevant technology disciplines; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise security architecture, including significant exposure to AI/ML and cloud technologies strongly preferred.

Proven track record of delivering large-scale security projects—especially AI-focused—in Fortune 100 or similarly complex environments strongly preferred.

Proven capacity to align security initiatives with business priorities and demonstrate ROI strongly preferred.

Adept at engaging and influencing C-level executives, translating technical details into actionable strategies strongly preferred.

Extensive experience pioneering new security methodologies and contributing to industry best practices strongly preferred.

Cross-functional experience (e.g., strategy, change management, business process management strongly preferred process management strongly preferred.

Ability to inspire teams and innovate groundbreaking AI security solutions strongly preferred.

Demonstrated expertise with CISA's Zero Trust Maturity Model (ZTMM), NIST's Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), HIPAA compliance, and the application of zero trust design principles is strongly preferred.

Depth in AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), model security, cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), and enterprise architecture strongly preferred.

Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, TOGAF, CCSP, SABSA) strongly preferred.

ML/AI certifications: Nvidia CA, CAITL, Azure AI EA, Azure Data Science, GCP-ML, AWS-MLS, Stanford AI-GC, MIT-PCMLAI preferred.

Experience in health care industry preferred.
