Enterprise Resiliency Testing Manager

Role/ Department

The Resilience Testing Team Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of Northern Trust’s Enterprise Resilience testing program. This includes identifying and assessing operational risks, developing, and executing test plans, and reporting on test results. Testing forms a key part in stressing the firm’s ability to remain within impact tolerances during disruptive events, ensuring procedures and controls are effectively designed and actionable to ensure the continual delivery of services.


The key responsibilities of the role include;

Leads a team involved in resiliency and scenario testing, and assess the adequacy of the required response and recovery actions for important business services enterprise wide.

Sets the strategy for the Enterprise Testing Program.

Supports the creation & maintenance of Operational Resiliency Policy and Standards

Oversee the testing plans against a range of scenarios to identify resiliency gaps

Identify vulnerabilities, suggest remediation activities, and work with the business to address gaps and enhancements to resiliency plans / strategies

Report to senior management/relevant committees on the results of operational resiliency testing, and associated improvement plans / resiliency strategy

Identifies and solves complex, operational and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department

Consults and Advises senior Business Leaders and Practice Leads on enhancing resilience provisions

Facilitates operational resilience tests and workshops & provide training and guidance to partners on operational resilience best practices

Collaborates and advises Business Leaders to create post-test action plans

Work with other teams to ensure that operational resilience is integrated into all aspects of the business

Identify and assess operational risks in line with risk appetite and impact tolerances

Identifying, investigating and monitoring emerging resiliency risks through horizon scanning to support future scenario test plans

Member of Global Operational Resilience governance committees to present Resilience Testing matters to Senior Leadership and Practice Leads

Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in operational resilience and resiliency testing

Contribute to the development of the operational resilience strategy

Promotes a Resiliency culture across the enterprise

Coaching and mentoring development developing Partners

Skills/Experience

The successful candidate will benefit from having;

Expert knowledge of operational resiliency including disaster/business recovery, business continuity management, corporate risk policies and standards

Extensive experience relating to operational resiliency and/or incident/crisis management testing

Experience with managing a team. Global experience is an advantage.

Understanding of operational and IT practices including integrated testing is a plus.

Strong understanding of risk management practices including cyber security and how they apply in Financial Services organizations including the impact of regulation on operational resiliency matters

Applies knowledge of key business drivers and the factors that maximize department performance

Self-motivator who can inspire those around them.
