We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

What You Need to Know About the Role:

This is a technical presales role with our Enterprise Merchant Services team, operating in the Global Sales organization

You will provide technical discovery, product demos, solution design, and integration support for large enterprise merchants located in the United States and Canada.

This is a hybrid role, with three days per week in a local office expected.

The Enterprise Merchant Services team supports our Enterprise Sales function by providing product expertise, presales consulting, technical support, project management, and onboarding assistance for our largest merchant clients.

Solutions Engineers are product experts that partner closely with Sales to lead technical discovery and design solutions that meet our customers’ unique business needs.

Job Description:

Your Way to Impact 

You will own the technical solution and project design phase of sales engagements. Your work ensures that solutions are technically feasible, products will meet the business needs of our customers, and projects are well-defined to ensure smooth implementation. 

You will partner closely with assigned Account Executives, engaging with new and existing merchant clients to ensure these engagements maximize value for PayPal and our customers.  
 

Your Day-to-Day 

In your day-to-day role, you will: 

Provide technical analysis, technical solution design, software engineering support, and product expertise to businesses implementing PayPal payment processing solutions. 

Lead technical discovery conversations, conduct detailed business process analysis, and document customer business models and requirements. 

Create technical solution design documents used to guide businesses in the implementation of PayPal payment processing solutions, ensuring customers implement our solutions with a high degree of quality and with optimal integration strategies and techniques. 

Build proof of concept demos, perform troubleshooting, and identify technical issues with code, software, hardware, devices, and endpoints. 

Ensure projects are successful by partnering closely with other stakeholders as projects transition from design to implementation and launch.  

Provide feedback to PayPal Product Managers, PayPal Software Engineering, and other internal groups on implementation challenges and feature requests. 

Occasionally travel for on-site customer visits (approximately 10% may be expected). 
 

What Do You Need to Bring 

Minimum 5 years of experience as a presales consultant, solutions engineer, technical account manager, systems architect, or similar position. 

At least 3 years of experience working directly with large enterprise clients is preferred. 

Industry experience with payments, merchant services, e-commerce, and/or retail. 

Working knowledge of API and web technologies (REST, GraphQL, JavaScript). 

Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external partners and a passion for collaborating on complex projects in a team environment. 

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Comfortable presenting to C-level executive audiences. 

BS/BA or foreign equivalent in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar is preferred.

The Canada national annual pay range for this role is

$97900 to $154000
