Enterprise Utilities ManagerPosition Overview
Shaw Industries is hiring a Enterprise Utilities Manager. As a key leader within Corporate Engineering, the Enterprise Utilities Manager manages a team of 7 salaried professionals including staff engineers, a CAD team leader, and CAD designers. This position is responsible for developing and championing the consistent application of standards and best practices for utilities and infrastructure systems across the enterprise. The position is responsible for developing and managing the annual AFMG capital budget for arc flash and NEC code corrections as well as the expense budgets for recurring arc flash studies. The Enterprise Utilities Manager supports the long-term sustainability of the enterprise through the development of engineers and technical subject matter experts, helping to provide all leadership skills, technical skills, and business skills necessary for success.

Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership and Guidance: Provide enterprise-level leadership for utility standards, systems, and platforms. Champion consistent application of the same. Provide technical input and design criteria for the development of project scopes around utility system equipment and configuration. Provide technical, leadership, and general business mentoring for engineers and others, both within and outside Corporate Engineering.
Team Leadership: Manage the enterprise utilities team and provide direction in developing project concepts, feasibility studies, budget estimates and project execution. Recruit, train, and supervise a staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and productivity. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the organization. Utilize sound performance management techniques, establish goals, and challenge direct reports to be efficient and effective. Fully utilize PX to set and measure goals for individuals, aligning with company objectives, and coach to promote further growth and development of the enterprise utilities team.
System Management: Develop and implement an enterprise-level strategy for managing the performance of key utilities systems. Provide guidance to business leaders related to the prioritization of utility systems work based on facility function, process redundancy, and business continuity factors. Develop and manage the AFMG capital budget for arc flash and NEC code corrections and related expense budgets for recurring arc flash studies.
Safety and Compliance: Champion adherence to the requirements NFPA70B, NFPA70E, NEC, and OSHA codes related to equipment selection and maintenance. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment relative to utilities systems. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance. Assure team compliance with all Shaw Industries project administration guidelines and procedures.
Asset Management: Maintain accurate records of utility system assets, including a comprehensive boiler system log, chiller system log, and electrical system one-line diagrams and studies. Develop and implement strategies for asset management, including lifecycle planning and replacement schedules.
CAD Services: Lead the shared pool of CAD resources to provide design and drawing support for engineering efforts across the enterprise.
Position Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a salaried team in a corporate environment is required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and construction of utilities systems is required.
Minimum of 10 years of project management experience is required.
Knowledge of medium-voltage power systems and power distribution is required.
Knowledge of chilled water systems, industrial HVAC, boiler systems, and compressed air systems is required.
Experience in the application of NFPA70B, NFPA70E, NEC, and OSHA codes is required.
Experience leading multi-disciplined capital project engineering teams from the development of concept through startup, commissioning, and project closure is required.
Proficiency in project management and engineering software tools, including Smartsheet, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office products is required.
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and leadership skills are required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including formal presentations and report writing are required.
Domestic and international travel required (approximately 25%).
Full-time, in-office work schedule is required.
Preferred Requirements:
Four-year degree in related technical field is preferred.
Ten years of experience in the design and construction of industrial power systems is preferred.
